MSU 3-Month Look Ahead – July

Construction Look Ahead

May 2017 through July 2017

 

The crunch of summer is catching up with us and our desire to get projects out for bid.  Below you will see the latest information we have with respect to projects we anticipate bidding over the next three months.  Some of these projects have a change in schedule from what was reported last month.  Please continue to view our website at Construction Look Ahead – Projects – Planning, Design & Construction – Missouri State University for the latest in schedules for these and possibly other projects that may pop up this summer.

 

Replace Boilers, Kentwood Hall
Project Description:  This project will replace the boilers located in the basement with new energy efficient boilers. The project will also have alternates to relocate an existing chilled water pump and re-insulate the hydronic piping within the mechanical room.

Consultant:  MSU Planning, Design & Construction
Estimated Construction Cost:  $190,000

Floor Finish Replacement, Scholars House

Project Description:  This project will replace existing floor finishes in student suites on floors two through four.

Closet Improvements, Hammons House

Project Description:  This project will separate the existing wardrobe area into to two closet spaces with clothes rods in student rooms.

Improvements to the PT Clinic, McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall
Project Description:  This project will modify building structure and install a ceiling-mounted overhead body-weight supported ambulation system.

Install Second Floor Carpet, Meyer Library

Project Description:  This project will remove and replace the existing carpet on the second floor of the library.

Wyrick Plaza Improvements, Landscaping and Plazas

Project Description:  This project will construct a new landscaped plaza area located east of the fountain on the West Mall of the Campus.

Laundry Room Modifications, Woods House
Project Description:  This project will remove existing VCT flooring in laundry room 1001.  The concrete floor will be repaired as needed and sealed.  A laundry alert system will be installed to accommodate new washer and dryers.

Rigging Point Installation, Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts
Project Description:  This project will install engineered rigging points above the audience seating area for an upcoming production in 2018. Installation may require the removal of existing roofing and replacement of the existing roofing and interior scaffolding.

Estimated Construction Cost:  $50,000

Refinish Racquetball Courts, Plaster Sports Complex

Project Description:  This project will repair and recondition the existing wood athletic flooring in twelve racquetball courts. The work will be phased to accommodate work by others.

Install Septic System, Baker Observatory

Project Description:  This project will install a septic system capable of accommodating 125 people and a small catering kitchen.

Estimated Construction Cost:  $40,000

Award of Contract:  June 14, 2017
Start of Construction:  Upon award

Renovation of Hill Hall
Project Description:  Hill Hall, one of the three original buildings on our campus’ historic quadrangle, was completed in 1924. The original building has seen many improvements over the years, but is in need of a major renovation to accommodate demands for additional space, efficiency, and accessibility.  The primary purpose of this project is to renovate Hill Hall to improve access, provide new electrical and mechanical system upgrades and improvements to lab, office and classroom spaces.

Consultant:   Helix Architecture + Design
Estimated Construction Cost: $8,900,000

Issue for Bid:  June 22, 2017
Bid Opening:  July 6, 2017
Award of Contract:  July 19, 2017
Start of Construction:  July 29, 2017

 

Missouri State University will have a very busy summer getting the above projects bid and underway in addition to working on many other projects already under contract.  Each of these projects brings an improvement to our campus that is important to our students, faculty, staff and the entire community that is involved with our campus.  We could not being doing this without the tremendous help from the construction industry in southwest Missouri.  For that, we continue to thank you for all you do for Missouri State University.
