MSU 3-Month Look Ahead – June – August

Summer is here and construction activity has picked up greatly on campus.  There a many projects underway all over our campus.  In addition to the current projects in construction, the following is a list of projects planned to be bid over the next three months.  Please check our website at: Construction Look Ahead – Planning, Design & Construction – Missouri State University for the latest with respect to these projects, their bid dates, and any new projects that may be added to our list.

 

ROTC Reception Area 
Project Description:  A redesign of the ROTC entry and reception area to provide a more welcoming entrance to the department. Display area and cases are included with this project in addition to the staff work area.
Estimated Construction Cost:  $58,000
Issue for Bid:  May 26, 2016
Bid Opening:  June 14, 2016
Award of Contract:  June 15, 2016
Start of Construction:  June 25, 2016

Flooring Improvements, JQH Arena
Project Description:  Circus animals damaged the wood practice court floor at the JQH Arena. The floor was immediately replaced with a temporary wood floor, but a permanent replacement needs to be installed. New floor material will be reinforced concrete to match the surrounding floor and work is expected to take place in August.

Renovation for Health Center, Monroe Apartments
Project Description:  The Taylor Health and Wellness Center services will be temporarily relocated to the first floor of the Monroe Apartments while the existing building is deconstructed and the new facility is constructed on the existing site. Apartments located on the upper floors will remain occupied during the entire project.

Freudenberger House Monument Sign (MRC) 
Project Description:  Install wayfinding signs on the campus pedestrian corridor to match existing signs. The signs are approximately 3 ft. wide x 4 ft. tall with aluminum tube frames and aluminum panels set on steel tubes with concrete pedestal foundations. Graphics will be computer-generated, high performance vinyl letters on stenciled watermark of University logo. The base bid will include one (1) sign. There will be an alternate for one (1) additional sign.

Replace Hollow Metal Doors, Hammons Student Center
Project Description:  This project involves the removal and replacement of the existing hollow metal doors leading into the east gymnasium from the north and south ends of the gymnasium, with interior aluminum storefront doors. In addition, install new Bear pass card access readers at each door.

Estimated Construction Cost:  $28,800

Remodel Front Desk, Sunvilla 
Project Description:  Renovate the front desk area of Sunvilla Tower to provide better accessibility to guests, increased visibility, improved work area and provide a storage area for the staff.
Estimated Construction Cost:  $35,000

Award of Contract:  July 15, 2016
Start of Construction:  Upon Award

Renovation, Ellis Hall 
Project Description:  A complete renovation of this academic building is planned. The building will be fully vacated to allow full use of the facility by the contractor during the renovation. The existing asbestos is being removed and will be gone prior to the project being turned over to the contractor. The project is to be complete prior to the fall semester in 2017.

Renovation, Meyer Library
Project Description:  This project is a continued follow-up on previous modifications made to Meyer Library. The scope of work to be included in the 2016 modifications include: move Research & Instructional Services to the existing Government Reference. Remodel existing space into a Veterans Lounge, consisting of offices for support staff and relocate acquisitions into newly constructed offices on the lowest floor to the first.

Replace Exhaust Fan, Kemper Hall
Project Description:  Project removes an existing roof mounted exhaust fan at Kemper Hall that serves a fume hood in room 119 and installs a new fan on the roof in an adjacent location. Electrical service and ductwork will be extended to the new fan location and some structural reinforcement of the roof will be required.

Estimated Construction Cost:  $75,000

Award of Contract:  August 17, 2016
Start of Construction:  Upon award

In addition to these projects, in August we will be releasing the documents for our new health and wellness center for a September bid date.  We expect the construction cost to be around $9,000,000.
