TO: ALL MEMBERS OF SPRINGFIELD CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION
The success and growth of your Association is due to the efforts of volunteers serving on our committees. The Board of Directors will emphasize increased committee work as one of our goals. We encourage you and other members of your firm to choose one or more of these committees on which you’d like to help. Only one form has been sent to each member firm, so make sure all your employees have a chance to volunteer.

Brief Summary of SCA Committees:
- Architects Liaison Committee
has created the Bid Date Calendar for our website and the Suggested Bidding Procedures now in use on almost all local projects, a Standardized Bid Form and the four-color “Building the Ozarks” brochure. Currently the committee is emphasizing use of the Bid Date Calendar and working on a questionnaire to identify potential problems in the bidding process. This committee meets quarterly with the Government Liaison Committee.
- Developer of the Year Committee
chooses the recipient of each year’s award from nomination forms submitted by members. The committee also selects the Architect of the Year and Engineer of the Year when those honors are earned. The awards are presented at the annual Salute to Construction Banquet in November.
- Golf Outing Committee
is responsible for setting up and taking down Hole Sponsor signs and for the beverage distribution system during the Spring and Summer Golf Outings. This committee is not recommended for those who want to play.
- Governmental Liaison Committee
meets with representatives from the City (Building Development Services), City Utilities, Greene County, AIA and MSPE. They continue to resolve issues to make the local building process more efficient.
- Insurance Committee
meets as needed.
- Labor Relations & Legal Committee
welcomes suggestions for discussion topics.
- The Legislative Committee
is another as-needed committee.
- Membership & Public Relations Committee
is responsible for recruitment and retention of members. Networking opportunities in connection with this year’s Membership Roundup are now under discussion.
- OTC Liaison Committee
meets monthly to offer advice and support to the college on construction issues.
- Pig Roast Committee
is made up of two parts: the planning committee meets preceding the event. And then, we need about 40 more volunteers to actually work during the event.
- Public Works Liaison Committee
This year a new Public Works Liaison Committee will be established for SCA members who work on street, road, sanitary services and subdivision projects to connect with representatives from the City, City Utilities and Greene County.
- Safety, Health & OSHA Committee
is working with Bituminous to address safety issues for members as identified through the Safety Group Insurance Program. Seminars and training sessions are outreach opportunities identified by this committee.
- Salute to Construction Liaison
represents SCA on the Salute Council. Many SCA members volunteer annually to speak at Salute Career Days.
- Scholarship Committee
meets during the spring to select the recipients of each year’s awards through the application and interview process. The Executive Committee has directed this committee to raise the funds for the scholarships starting this year.
- MSU Liaison Committee
meets monthly with the University’s design and construction department to share information about upcoming projects.
