2018 SCA Chicken BBQ Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the annual Chicken BBQ! We were nervous about the chance of rain, but the rain managed to hold off the entire night. We had a record number of sponsors this year that helped raise money for local scholarships. The Chicken BBQ couldn’t happen without all of the volunteers from Brady Bond overseeing the committee to Matt Neal overseeing food to CSI helping with parking, serving, and cleanup. As always, the MSU Construction is there from beginning to end to help put up sponsor banners, “flip and dob” the chicken, and run the annual Cornhole Tournament.

The work doesn’t end the night of the event, so thank you to all of our volunteers who went back Friday and Monday to finish cleanup and move the sponsor banners to James River frontage!

Congratulations to Team APAC, Bubba & Lois Kimrey, for winning the fourth annual Cornhole Tournament!

A special thank you to our 2018 Sponsors!

2017 Event Recap

The Chicken BBQ was another great event! The weather couldn’t have been any better! If you weren’t there you missed a great time! Around 450 people enjoyed the good food and cold beer. The Rugby Club thought it was a perfect evening to play a game. And nothing stops the Cornhole Tournament from crowning a winner. The winners of the traveling trophy and bragging rights for a year are Team CM Baggers, Ben O’Dell and Payton Meeks.

The event couldn’t happen without all of the great volunteers! Doug Fronick who oversees everything! Matt Neal, David Neal, and Darryl Barr who are our head cooks and makes the secret sauce we use, CSI, who is our partner in crime and made sure to bring plenty on volunteers to work that night, the MSU Construction Club who helps with everything from setting up, cooking and tearing down, Dr. Richard Gebken who brings out the MSU Party Wagon, Georgia Powell for keeping the food line moving along and sells the chicken halves, and last but not least Generation Next and Travis DeLong for organizing (if you could call it organized!) the crazy cornhole tournament.
