MSU 3-Month Look Ahead -May

The summer rush is on at Missouri State University with respect to construction projects. We are working on many projects, both small and large. The following is the list we have to date for projects bidding through July of this year. Kitchen Renovation, Professional Building
Project Description:  The existing kitchen in the Professional Building will be reequipped to suit the needs of the Dietetics program. Most finishes including floor, ceiling, and walls will be replaced and new equipment will be provided to support classes in the space. All modifications are scheduled to be complete this summer.

FY17 Job Order Contract – Mechanical Repair and Replacement
Project Description:  This project provides minor mechanical repair & replacement services for an “on call” service for FY17.  Services are to be valid for all campuses with a maximum value of $300,000 per year and shall allow for three annual renewal periods.

Data Modifications, Craig Hall
Project Description:  Project installs conduit and non-metallic surface mounted raceway in the perimeter offices on the third floor of Craig Hall to support installation of new network data cabling. The data cabling will be installed by MSU telecom personnel. It is anticipated that this work would be completed during the summer of 2016 and individual offices will be impacted for several days each as the raceway and cabling is installed.

Replace Metal Doors, Hammons Student Center
Project Description:  The two hollow metal entry doors to the north and south of the East Gymnasium, Room 204 of Hammons Student Center are to be replace with heavy duty storefront doors and all the necessary hardware. In addition, Bear pass card access readers are to be installed at both doors to control access to the gymnasium.

Renovation, Meyer Library
Project Description:  This project relocates the existing computer lab from an upper floor to the first floor.  Additional modifications to adjacent areas are a part of this project.  Additional work will be bid this summer for modifications that are still being programmed and designed.

Food Court Renovations, Plaster Student Union
Project Description:  One of the food court venues at the Plaster Student Union will be converted to “Burrito Bowl,” offering a variety of multi-national menu items. Front counter, equipment, and finish changes will transform the space this summer. Work is to be complete prior to the fall semester.

Renovation for Health Center, Monroe Apartments
Project Description:  The Taylor Health and Wellness Center services will be temporarily relocated to the first floor of the Monroe Apartments while the existing building is deconstructed and the new facility is constructed on the existing site.  Apartments located on the upper floors will remain occupied during the entire project.

State of Construction:  July 25, 2016

Flooring Improvements, JQH Arena
Project Description:  Circus animals damaged the wood practice court floor at the JQH Arena. The floor was immediately replaced with a temporary wood floor, but a permanent replacement needs to be installed.  New floor material will be reinforced concrete to match the surrounding floor and work is expected to take place in August.

Renovation, Ellis Hall
Project Description:  A complete renovation of this academic building is planned.  The building will be fully vacated to allow full use of the facility by the contractor during the renovation.  The existing asbestos in the building will be removed prior to the project being turned over to the contractor.  The project is to be complete prior to the fall semester in 2017.
