Request for Volunteers

Dear Springfield Contractors Association Member:
Freeway Ministries is reaching out to help and serve the City of Springfield by way of assisting those with a criminal background and drug addiction. Our services including pro bono legal services for families, Christian counseling, food, clothing, and more. Freeway Ministries is now renovating The Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley at 1111 Kearney Street in Springfield to function as the World Headquarters location.
We are requesting assistance from the community with the renovations, which will be completed in phases:
Phase I: Walls/Metal Studs & Dry Wall – Estimated Start October 23rd (6-10 volunteers needed) – We will resume work on the metal studs.
Phase II: Trim work & Painting – Estimated Start Date November 5th (6-10 volunteers are needed) – Trim work and painting can be done all at once after Phase I is complete or in phases as portions of the building are complete during Phase 1.
Phase III: Drop Ceiling – Estimated Start Date November 21st (2-3 volunteers needed) – This phase of the job a contractor could teach/instruct a few of our Freeway volunteers how this is done we might be able to do it ourselves.
Phase IV: Finishing touches – December 15th to December 21st
Our new facility will include the following benefits for the community:
- Offices for the Recovery Ministry, Training, Counseling for families and Legal Help
- A Kitchen for those in need of a hot meal on Saturday Night
- A location for Saturday Night Worship Services without having to rent a gym
- Adequate restroom facilities for the adults and separate restroom facilities for the children
- Comfortable heating and air conditioned in this new facility
- More classroom space for infant to children, middle school and high school ages
Freeway Ministries is also seeking financial assistance to help with the renovation of the building at an estimated $1.1 million. Donations are eligible for tax credits and are gratefully appreciated in any dollar amount.
