Universal Concrete Mix Design Acceptance for City of Springfield

  • News
Letter from City of Springfield Public Works
The City of Springfield requires all concrete producers to have an accepted mix design for use on City projects and permits. In the past, this has been done on a per project or permit basis. To streamline paperwork and make the acceptance process much more simple, the City is making the following changes to provide a universal acceptance of concrete mix designs for use on City projects and permits.
From this point forward, all concrete producers shall submit their mix design to the Principal Engineer of Construction Inspection. The mix design shall be submitted with appropriate information on the form attached. The attached form may be filled in by hand or electronically. All information may be submitted via mail or electronically via email at the following addresses:
      Brett Foster, Principal Engineer
      Attn: Concrete Mix Design Acceptance
      1010 West Chestnut
      Springfield, MO 65802
      OR email to:
These mix designs will be accepted based on Chapter 6 of the City of Springfield General Conditions and Technical Specifications (Adopted November 2017) pending satisfactory performance in the field. Please allow up to 15 days for review and response by the City. Accepted mix designs will be allowed for use for a period of two years from the date of acceptance. The City will provide a letter once a mix design is accepted for use.
The City will apply a City Mix Number to each producer’s mix(es) and maintain a database of the accepted mix designs for City use. Each producer’s respective mix design numbers will be posted to the City’s website with appropriate contact information for the producer. When a contractor orders or requests use of your products on City projects and permits, they will only need to reference the concrete producer’s mix number and no other paperwork will be required.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Brett Foster with the City of Springfield Public Works directly.
